Wellness Experience
Simply spending a few days in one of cabins, surrounded by ancient woodland and the sights and sounds of nature is a wellness experience in itself.
While all accept the healing power of nature but did you know that there is ‘science’ behind it? When you are in a forest, particularly near a waterfalls, or any body of moving water you are surrounded by ‘negative ions’ – these molecules with an extra electron are the good guys..
In ‘normal life’ in urban environments on the other hand, people are surrounded by positive ions (molecules that have lost an electron), produced by electrical equipment such as televisions, microwaves ovens. Negative ions attach to the positively charged electrons in bacteria, viruses, dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, cigarette smoke. By doing this they revitalise cell metabolism, increase the flow of oxygen to the brain*, help us to breath more freely.

Wellness has always been central to our ethos here and we have run a number of structured retreats under the Yoga and Spice name in the past. For late 2/24 2025 we are introducing the concept of Wellness Weekends, when guests can add some specific wellness practices to their stay.
Wellness week-ends will all be arranged in the winter months as there is so much to do in Whitby and so many amazing walks from the site when the weather is good.

One to one yoga, breath work or meditation session
Relaxing full body Massage with Karen
Small group aerial yoga
Diet and lifestyle consultations
Vegetarian and vegan meals to order
Sound and Gong Bath (depending on interest)
